Everything going down right now within the DIY music scene and across the alt world.
Following the success of its Kansas, Colorado, and, of course, Ohio incarnations last year, Hawthorne Heights' Is For Lovers music festival is traveling to eight cities this year. From Jimmy Eat World to The Story So Far to Thursday, familiar faces from all across pop punk, post hardcore, and emo will be taking the stage across the various dates, with full lineups for Colorado, Massachusetts, and Lake Tahoe still to be announced. It all kicks off with the previously announced Hawaii show at the end of the month, with the fest's most expansive lineup yet comprising, fittingly, September's Ohio show. The 2023 dates include:
4/29 - Hawaii Is For Lovers - Kapolei, HI 6/24 - Lake Tahoe Is For Lovers - Stateline, NV 7/22 - Colorado Is For Lovers - Greenwood Village, CO 7/29 - OBX Is For Lovers - Manteo, NC 8/19 - lowa Is For Lovers - Council Bluffs, IA 8/20 - lowa Is For Lovers - Council Bluffs, IA 9/9 - Ohio Is For Lovers - Cincinnati, OH 9/10 - Tennessee Is For Lovers - Pelham, TN 9/17 - Massachusetts Is For Lovers - Mansfield, MA You can visit isforloversfestival.com for the full details & lineups for each date + get your hands on tickets, on sale now. UK post-metal quartet Sleep Token have time and time again of late reminded us just how they wound up becoming the most talked about musical collective — or maybe better put, downright phenomenon -- of the new year across the world of alternative. And now, the anonymous entity has premiered fifth 2023 single "Vore," accompanied by the announcement of heavily anticipated third full-length Take Me Back To Eden. The record, the follow-up to 2021's This Will Be Your Tomb, could be Sleep Token's most ambitious yet, if their recent saga of singles, kicked off by "Chokehold" and "The Summoning" back in just the first week of January, is a sign of all to come. This album will, after all, according to a press release, include "an hour-plus of music across 12 distinctive tracks.” It's truly only fitting for the current state of Sleep Token as a band, having just finished a massive UK run with an Australian tour and a plethora of EU festival dates soon to come. Take Me Back To Eden will be released on May 19 via Spinefarm. You can pre-order the album here. Panic! At The Disco's Brendon Urie took to the band's official social media today to announce his decision to end the project. In his post, Urie wrote, "I could've never imagined where this life would take me... But sometimes a journey must end for a new one to begin," detailing his future as a father and citing the project's conclusion as the result of a need to "bring this chapter of [his] life to an end and put [his] focus and energy on [his] family." You can read the full message below. Panic! At The Disco's initial conception came in 2004 as a four-piece out of Las Vegas, Nevada, making their full-length debut via the explosive, defining A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, fusing elements of pop punk, electronic, and baroque pop music. It ends following the release of six additional LPs, existing most recently for a number of years as a solo project of Urie's, backed on the road by a group of touring musicians. The news comes just months after Urie's final album under the Panic! At The Disco moniker, Viva Las Vengeance, as well as a U.S. tour. To conclude his message, Urie expressed, "I love you. I appreciate you. Thank you for existing."
Panic! At The Disco's final run of shows will take place in the U.K and E.U. beginning next month. You can purchase tickets here.
