the avett brothers

a couple of brothers from north carolina. they play banjo, upright bass, and acoustic guitar but hesitate to categorize themselves as bluegrass, or anything for that matter. fans say "indie roots", "folk-punk", or "grungegrass; whatever they are, they're good. they're currently working on a new album with legendary producer rick rubin (the guy who revitalized johnny cash & was the original DJ for the beastie boys). you can listen to these while we wait for the release of the new album (9/29)...
